Press Release: Democratic Talk Radio host announces bid for Party office
Stephen Scott Crockett of Earleville, Maryland announces that he will run for a seat on the Democratic State Central Committee from Cecil County in the September 12th Democratic Primary Election. Crockett is co-host of Democratic Talk Radio based in Fayetteville, Tennessee and writes the nationally distributed Democratic Voices opinion column.
Crockett is very prominent in Democratic Internet political activity. His Democratic Talk Radio website http://DemocraticTalkRadio.com is one of the top ranked Democratic websites on the Internet. His writings can be found on hundreds of websites all over the world and in many newspapers.
Crockett has been involved in Democratic politics in Maryland, Tennessee and nationally for over 35 years. He served as President of the Cecil County Young Democrats in the early 1970’s. He was President of the College Democrats at the University of Maryland and Vice President of the statewide Young Democrats in his youth. He served on the Governors Youth Advisory Council and the Governors Commission on Children and Youth.
Stephen Crockett worked in the Maryland State Senate for the late State Senator Victor Crawford. He was active in the Hargreaves, Malkus, Hatem and Dyson Congressional campaigns.
Crockett worked on both the Carter campaigns traveling from Florida to New Hampshire. He was active in the Gore campaign in 2000 in Tennessee. Crockett is a frequent speaker before College Democrat chapters and Democratic organizations in the Southern and Mid-Atlantic states.
Mr. Crockett moved to Tennessee after is mother was killed in an auto accident in the early 1990’s. Crockett operated several small businesses in Tennessee including College Marketing.com and a Christian bookstore. In Tennessee, Crockett was elected Secretary of the Lincoln County Democratic Party. He returned to live in Maryland at the beginning of 2005 to be closer to his family.
Crockett has deep roots in Cecil County. His family has lived in Cecil County for six generations. He has lived in Blake, Fair Hill, Charleston, Elk Mills, Earleville and Elkton. Crockett has attended various schools in Calvert, Rising Sun, North East, Cherry Hill and Elkton. Crockett is currently employed at the General Electric distribution center in Perryville, Maryland.
He is a member of the National Writers Union, UAW Local 1981. In 2006, Crockett served as a delegate to the UAW National CAP Convention in Washington, DC. He is a member of the Cecil County Democratic Club.
