“It is a sad day for Democrats in TN today. Senator Rosalind Kurita was the lone Democrat to vote with the Republicans to elect Ron Ramsey (Republican) as Speaker of the Senate. Every Republican and one Democrat (Kurita) voted for Ramsey, ending Senator John Wilder’s 36 year tenure as Speaker. Now control of all committee assignments and chairs passes to the Republicans.
