Dear Stephen,

Maryland Democrats are working overtime to take our country back from George Bush and his right wing cronies. We’re tired of paying too much for gas, for health care and prescription drugs, and for our children’s college education. We’ve had it with the out-of-control deficit and mismanaged war in Iraq. We can do much better - and I hope that you will join us today in helping change our state and nation for the better.

Our U.S. Senate race is a referendum on the failed policies of President Bush. We need a U.S. Senator who will stand up to George Bush and the special interests, not stand with them.

The Republican Senate candidate, Lieutenant Governor Michael Steele, is running a campaign funded by the George Bush-Karl Rove money machine. Time after time, Steele has put his hand in the Bush cookie jar, holding events with Bush, Rove, Cheney and several other top Bush allies and members of the Bush family.

It’s shameful that Steele refuses to come clean about his ties to the Bush administration. The Bush-Steele team has been playing in venues across the country for years - Steele spent 30 days stumping for the Bush/Cheney ticket in 2004 and gave a prime-time speech praising Bush at the 2004 Republican National Convention.

Michael Steele is not the independent he pretends to be. We have launched a new web site, www.therealsteele.com, to help set the record straight about Michael Steele. The site gives Marylanders a perspective on what’s behind Michael Steele’s deceptions and diversions, and his refusal to take clear positions on important issues like the Iraq war.

A vote for Michael Steele for U.S. Senate is a vote for George Bush - and a vote AGAINST Maryland.

Maryland simply can’t afford to elect Michael Steele to the Senate.
