Faced with disturbing news the Bush administration has a long pattern of re-writing history. "Business Week," is reporting the latest Texas tall tale at:

Looks like the fools got caught with their pants down.

It is interesting that all Republican politicans, Fox News and right wing talk radio have been repeating the lie for a couple of years in advance of this decision. A great example of "creative reality" in the intrepretation of facts that run counter to Republican policy interests. Same crap that gave us beauties like the "Just Say No" slogan instead of a workable drug abuse policy, abstinence instead of birth control and sex education, the skyrocketing federal debt, drug companies and HMO's creating government healthcare legislation -and, of course, the Iraq War!

2004 and time to retake our democracy!

Correct me if I am wrong. Wasn't it Larry Speaks, spokesman for Ronald Reagan, that said, "Repeat a lie three times and it becomes the truth,"? A cruder but similar thought was voiced by Joseph Goebels, propaganda chief for Nazi Germany, "Lie, lie, lie. Eventually it sticks."

If I remember correctly, recently the pResident tripped over his own foot and said during either Russert interview, or press conference that, "the recession began when he took office". He had previously stated that it started duing final months of Clinton--which is what he tried to do again----but bombed. See, repugs can take responsibility for their actions at least once.

Dear Discussion forum participants:

I am glad we have independent sources like Business Week, to positively identify the idiosyncratic demagogues out there, who would just happen to associate themselves with public policy matters which in turn affect our government. This same over rated employe named Mankiw provided us with the Brainless scenario that outsourcing Jobs was a good thing for our economy.

Given his propensity, I am not suprised to learn that he would try to over ride the National Bureau of Economic Research, (which has for the past 75 years been the non-partisan economic model which determines when recessions begin and end), by attempting to use the CEA office to invalidate already established data, in order to discredit President Clinton.

I am convinced that we are dealing with a bunch of sycophants who would implicate the pope if it benefited their heretical views.
