One in seven New Hampshire Republican primary voters cast their votes for someone other than George W. Bush. John Kerry received over 3000 write-in votes, 5% of the vote.

I attended a meeting today and heard about this little tid-bit of information. I bring up this point. It is believed that repugs did this as a means of boosting Kerry--instead of Dean--in the general election. Now granted, Kerry has an edge here in the foreign affairs department and can burn dubya on his being AWOL, but Rove is a bit more scared of Dean because of his willingness to go toe-to-toe with Jr.
Kerry won't. The perception of the Bush Crime Family is Kerry is easy prey--compared to Dean. Did you notice it said, "write-in" votes?

" I know how hard it is for you to put food on your family" (G.W. 1/27/2000).

The point I am trying to make is that there is something afoot in the electorate. See my other posts about Independants and Democrats, about the moderate demographic moving in droves away from the right-wing adgenda of the Bush II administration. THIS is great news for the Democratic Party, for America and for the world. There are record numbers of voters registering to vote in Democratic party primaries. Research shows this surge to be largely Independants and to a degree moderate Republicans. Bush has played to his base, but 60% of Americans are not part of that demographic. It is the great American middle, that will in the end, throw junior out of the White House.
Regardless of who the nominee of our party will be, the majority of Americans are moving our way.
Don't underestimate the fight in John Kerry. Remember the last time someone pointed a grenade at John Kerry he ran his swift boat onto shore, chased the man down and machine gunned him to death. Bush can play GI Joe all he wants. It won't work against Kerry. Expect Max Cleland and others vets like him to vocally support Kerry in exposing the rotten yellow underbelly of the chickenhawks of the right.
Terry McAulliffe of the DNC was on ABC this morning telling George Stephanopolus that if the Republicans were going to question any Democrat on matters of patriotism, he was going to question the past record of the President. He referred specifically to Bush's record of going AWOL and avoiding combat duty in Vietnam.
I will support whomever the Democratic nominee is. And when the votes have been cast and the die is set, we will look back and remember it was Howard Dean that gave Democrats back their spine. It was Howard Dean that drew a line in the sand and said we are not taking another step backwards.
If Dean is the nominee, great! If it's Kerry, Edwards, or Clark, that's great also. I am confident, given the emerging trends, that the majority of Americans will be with us. We will take back the White House and we will take back the country from the wahabbi's of the right.

I agree that any of the top contenders will beat Bush badly unless election fraud is huge. Reports that high school kids found many ways to crack security measures on Maryland's new Diebold electronic machines and change vote totals worry me greatly.
2004 is coming.

__Bush Slips to 78% of Vote in New Hampshire Primary

"As it turns out, ...the unofficial tally by Associated Press significantly underestimated the collapse in the president's fortunes. According to updated figures from the New Hampshire Secretary of State's office, which only today posted a final figure on the total number of ballots cast, only 78 percent of New Hampshire voters who took Republican ballots marked them for Bush. (In one New Hampshire town, Milton, Bush received only 48 percent of the vote, while in a number of others he was held below 60 percent of the vote.) ...a remarkable 8,288 (12 percent) wrote in the names of leading Democratic presidential contenders ...Bush received only 257 write-in votes in the Democratic primary, 0.1% of the vote."
