1. JIMMY CARTER SAYS DEAN "ABSOLUTELY RIGHT" ON MID-EAST
Former President and Nobel peace prize winner Jimmy Carter said on National Public Radio today that presidential candidate Howard Dean "was absolutely right" in calling for a more balanced U.S. role in the Israel-Palestinian clash. Carter said Dean's use of the word "evenhanded" may have been an unfortunate choice, but that Dean's premise that the U.S. must be balanced in its role and not appear to be in a singular alliance with Israel is a correct one.
Dean had been criticized for his stance by Joseph Lieberman and some other Democratic presidential primary candidates.
