Many Americans have seen the charts that show George W. Bush to be the first president since Herbert Hoover to have a negative monthly job loss rate. Bush's colosal failure to manage the economy hides the larger truth in these numbers. Taking a close look at the numbers shows two unmistakable patterns: 1). Every time a Republican succeeds a Democrat in the White House, the job creation rate plummets, 2). Every time a Democrat succeeds a Republican in the White House, the job growth rate soars. Every time. No exceptions.

Check out the numbers:

President/(jobs added per month)
-------------------------------
Truman I +60,000
Truman II +113,000
Eisenhower I +58,000 ( a 1st term decrease over Truman's last term of 55,000)
Eisenhower II +15,000 (overall decrease over Truman, 50,000)
Kennedy I +122,000 (increase over Eisenhower's last term of 107,000) (overall increase over Eisenhower, 85,000)
Johnson +206,000
Nixon I +129,000 (1st term decrease over Johnson of 77,000)
Nixon/Ford +105,000 (overall decrease over Johnson of 89,000)
Carter I +218,000 (increase over Nixon/Ford of 113,000) -overall increase of 101,000-
Reagan I +109,000 (1st term decrease over Carter of 109,000)
Reagan II +224,000 (overall decrease over Carter of 51,000)
G.H. Bush I +52,000
Clinton I +242,000 (1st term increase over G.H. Bush of 190,000)
Clinton II +235,000 (overall increase over G.H. Bush of 186,000)
G.W. Bush I -69,000 (1st term decrease over Clinton of 304,000)

In sixty years of history the decrease in job creation when a Republican succeeds a Democrat is 136,375 for the 1st term and a decrease overall of 124,500.
In that same period whenever a Democrat succeeds a Republican the job creation rate soars by 136,667 for the 1st term and 124,333 overall.

Considering the steady growth in population of the United States in this time frame one would conclude that the job creation rate should steadily increase each year. This trend only manifests itself when examining Democratic administrations:

Truman +86,500
Kennedy +122,000
Johnson +206,000
Carter +218,000
Clinton +238,500
-----------------
+174,200

The Republican record:
Eisenhower +36,500
Nixon +117,000
Reagan +166,500
G.H. Bush +52,000
G.W. Bush -69,000
----------------------
+60,600

The record speaks for itself. And when one considers that the vast majority of our nation's massive federal debt was compiled under Republican administrations, one wonders how much worse would have been the Republican job growth rate had they actually practiced what they preached in regards to fiscal responsibility.
